Paper spinners

Kia ora

This week most people were away on the Zoofari at Auckland Zoo. I was put in Team Awa (Years 3 and 4). We got to make paper spinners with Miss Dixon. To make a paper spinner you need  a piece of paper and some scissors. The paper spinners work really well!

Link on how to make them

Here is the process of me making a spinner.

Crack the code

Hi everyone!
Yesterday, we did this really fun activity called Crack the code. For Crack the Code you had to write the sentence. The sentence had no vowels so you had to add the vowels to make them make sense.
Here are the questions.

Can you crack the code?? One way to make notes is to just write down words without any vowels. Each of the following sentences will make sense if you add some vowels back in.

Rhinos have big horns on their noses.

A lns rr cn b hrd frm ght kms wy.

Lns hv hr tht grws n th tp f thr hds t thr shldrs.

Pngns r flghtlss brds.

Kw r ndngrd nmls nd r nly fnd n NZ.

Hwks hnt smllr nmls nd fsh n shllw wtrs.

Dddy lng lgs r th mst psns spdrs n NZ.

Kws hv brwn fthrs lng bks nd 1 y n ch sd  f thr fc. Thy r ntv t Nw Zlnd.

Red letters are the answers:

Rhinos have big horns on their noses.

A lion’s roar can be heard from eight kms way.

Lions have hair that grows on the top of their heads to their shoulders.

Penguins are flightless birds.

Kiwis are endangered animals and are only found in NZ.

Hawks hunt smaller animals and fish in shallow waters.

Daddy long legs are the most poisonous spiders in NZ.

Kiwis have brown feathers long beaks and 1 eye on each side of their face. They are native to New Zealand.

Hi Everyone
For the last few weeks we have been learning Maori with Miss Mentor. I have created a presentation call E Hia? or How Many? Here it is

Tessellation art

For geometry we have been doing tessellation art with Miss D. A Tessellation shape is a shape that can fit into itself over and over again. Firstly we had to cut out a shape then stick the ends together. Secondly we traced the shape onto an piece of paper and then colour it in. Here is a photo of out tessellation art together.
