Persuasive Writing

Kia Ora everyone

This week we are learning about Persuasive Writing. We had to learn about different legends and we had to do some writing about Maui. It was called A Great Mythical Hero. We wrote three reason on why Maui would make a Great Mythical Hero. Here it is.

TITLE: Maui - A Great Mythical Hero.

Name: Braeden                                                                                              21/2/17

Introduction: I believe that Maui is a great mythical hero.
Reason 1: Firstly Maui helped lots of people because he gathered dry wood from Mahuika (fire goddess) so we can make fire and he threw a net onto the sun to slow the day so we can do more.
Reason 2: Secondly,  Maui has super-human powers because he was a demi-god.He was strong enough to pull up a gigantic fish that became the North Island of NZ. His father was Tangaroa, god of the sea.
Reason 3:  Finally, he was magical, because he had a powerful fish hook so he could shape shift  into a Hawk to fly away from danger.
Conclusion: I am sure that you will agree that Maui is a great mythical hero. He helped people by bring fire, he used his superhuman powers to pull up the north island of NZ. Finally he can shape shift into a hawk to make great escapes.

Learn from a myth become a legend

Image result for KangarooHere is a table that I made about Learn from a myth become a legend. We are learning how to tell the differences between a legend and a myth.  I read a How a Kangaroo got it's tail. It is a myth. Here is a video I found on you tube. Here is my work.

How the Kangaroo got it’s tail.

The story comes from a culture.
It has non-human characters like gods.
It can have some real characters like plants, humans and other animals.
It is set in a certain place.
It explains a certain phenomenon or says why things are the way they are.
The main parts of the story are:
Aboriginal - Australian
Mirram the Kangaroo and Warreen the wombat
Animals-
Kangaroo & Wombat
Outback - Australia
Kangaroo got its tail and why a wombat has a flat forehead.
Mirram the Kangaroo and Warreen the wombat were best friend ,but Mirram liked to sleep outside and Warreen liked to sleep in the hut he had made. One day Mirram asked Warreen  if  he wanted to sleep outside with him, but he did not want to after that,  Mirram got very angry at Warreen so he dropped a rock on Warreen head making is flat . Warreen want revenge so he had a sharp spar and through it at Mirram.i
