Procedure Writing

Procedure Writing!!  
Martin the Alien has arrived on Earth and he wants to know how to make a Healthy Hamburger. Here is a procedure, using the correct structure and language, to instruct Martin on how to make my favourite healthy hamburger.

Title: Healthy Hamburger

Ingredients/Materials:
  • Onion
  • Meat patty
  • Avocado
  • lettuce
  • Cheese
  • Sesame seed buns
  • Tomatoes

Method:
1. Cut the bun in half.
2. Place the meat patty into pan and place it on to the stove and leave to cook.
3.Slice the tomatoes into thin slices and put on the bun.
4. Flip the meat patty over with a spatula.
5. Rip pieces of lettuce and place it on the bun too.
6. Flip the meat patty again.
7. Chop the onion into chunks and scatter them on to the bun.
8. Flip the patty over.
9. Cut a slice of cheese and put that on your bun.
10. Place your meat patty on the bun.
11. Scoop out some avocado and spread on bun. Place top bun on top.
12. Enjoy!!

Animal report about humming birds

This week we got to choose an animal to write an animal report about. I choose the hummingbird.
       

Hummingbirds are part of the bird family and are omnivores. There are more than 350 known species of hummingbirds in the world.

Appearance
Hummingbirds are colourful , small birds. Hummingbirds have a long beak to reach into flowers and get their food. Hummingbirds have small feet which is used for perching only. Most hummingbirds have more than one colour of feathers.

Diet
Hummingbirds eat tree sap, nectar, pollen and insects. Hummingbirds  beat their wings so fast they have to eat often because they use up all their energy.  Hummingbirds have long tongues so they can get their food.

Habitat
Most hummingbirds live in the tropics.
Hummingbirds are found in the western hemisphere from South East Alaska to Southern Chile.

Reproduction
 Hummingbirds lay 1-3 eggs. The eggs take 13-22 days to hatch and the chicks start to fly in 18 to 30 days. The oldest hummingbird lived to 12.

Conclusion
Hummingbirds are endangered because people hunt them for their feathers and destroy their habitat.

Jump rope

Jump rope

Yahoo!! On Tuesday it was our school Jump Rope. My favourite station was Partner Skipping because you could jump with your friend. I jumped with my buddy Mia. Next we ran to the bottom court for the jump off. First it was room 4, then room 5 ,6,7. Finally it was our turn. I tripped on my fifth skip. Max won. Then it was the teacher's turn and Mrs Ritchie won.

Autumn


Crunch crunch crunch. Slowly I walked through a pile of leaves as I tried to round up the sheep but they kept running away like racing cars. I heard the sound of birds migrating to warmer countries. I stared up at the sky and saw the dark clouds.They looked like the inside of a dark cave. Finally our dog decided to come and help  move the sheep. Loudly the dog barked at the sheep and chased them into the other paddock. I ran over as fast as I could and shut the gate.  Slowly my dog and I walked back to our house.

Balloon Rocket



Our experiment was the balloon rocket. We were testing how far and fast a balloon can go along a string.  We discovered that the type of the balloons does effect how fast and far the balloon rocket goes. The normal round balloon went the furtherest and fastest along the string.
Our group worked great together. Lilly and I did the science board and Jessica put the video together using imovie.

My Holiday

Minions
“ We're here” I cried. When we got to the movie theatre we walked in and got our tickets then went to the cafe. I got a sausage roll and my brother had a wrap with chicken. When we had finished that we walked to the theatre and sat down. “The movie is starting” said Mum quietly to my brother, nana and me. The movie I saw was minions. My favorite part of the movie was when the Minions started coming out of the water like a flock of birds .I also liked it when they made a dinosaur fall into a volcano. At the end a boy stole the queen's crown from Scarlet Overkill which was stuck in a block of ice as big as a car.

Autumn

Autumn
Autumn is the time of the year that the trees lose their leaves.
Leaves flutter down like snow flakes falling from the sky.
The trees have lost their leaves and become naked for the winter.
The leaves make a blanket of colour on the ground like a patchwork quilt.
The wind howls like a wolf wanting a bone.
Dew falls and touches the ground and makes it sparkly like glitter.
Autumn blows its crunchy leaves everywhere.

Narrative

HUNTED

Once upon a time in a jungle full of palms and bushes there lived a jungle boy with blue eyes and brown skin. He was very hungry. One night he popped out from behind a tree and could smell something good. He followed the smell over wooden boxes of all shapes and sizes until he saw a cooked chicken. He ran up to get it but he fell into a hole. He had been trapped in the hole by a hunter. The hunter used a camera flash and blinded the boy. When he woke up he was chained up, upside down.The hunter showed the boy the chicken wishbone and said “this could be your lucky day.” They pulled the wishbone and the boy won. He used the bone to undo the lock and started to run. The hunter chased him and started to catch up. The jungle boy ran as fast as he could until he reached a hole. The hunter grabbed him. Suddenly the boy saw the camera and flash and blinded him. 15 seconds later the hunter woke up and started to chase him like a gorilla. The jungle boy raced through an animal cage and the hunter followed him and got knocked out by the bars. When he woke up he was trapped in the cage, hanging on bamboo sticks. He looked down and there were a whole lot of jungle people dancing and singing around him.

My first narrative.

Holiday Island
            Honk! The ship arrived at the dock of holiday island and a whole lot of holiday makers  walked onto the island. They were wearing cane hats, hibiki coloured shirts and shorts. The island was covered in green coconut palms and knotted vines. On the other side of the island was a crystal clear lake and on the east side of the island was three hills but something strange was at the top. They were flashes coming from all the holidaymakers cameras. Flash Flash! Next they looked into the water to see beautiful coral reefs full of crabs, starfish, seahorses, fish of all shapes and sizes(clown fish, parrot fish and sharks) and eels.

The old hotel was broken down so they built huts in the trees using ferns for the roof, old planks for the floor, sticks for the walls and mud to hold it all together. For beds they found big leaves from the palms for blankets and feathers for mattresses. Once they finished making the hut they spread out to look for food. They found coconuts, fish that they caught and wild lettuce. After dinner they all climbed into bed and drifted off to sleep.
Suddenly everyone woke to the sound of a big, hairy, wild pig trying to get them. “What are we going to do?” yelled one of the holidaymakers. “I will save you,” said a boy. He jumped down and tamed the beast. They became friends and lived on the island happily ever after.

Rally car co-driver


Lindsay started rally racing 40 years ago when she was 20 and she was a driver before she became a co-driver. The rally car she does co-driving in is 1 year old and can go 216 km p/hr. They keep the rally car in the shed where the mechanics look after them. The car has to be light so it can go fast. Lindsay has only won 1 race.
They have to wear special clothes made of natural fibres so they don't catch on fire.
This is a picture of Lindsay holding up the SOS sign which is what you use when someone is hurt.

Unboxing day

Unboxing Day
Yahoo! I came back to school to my chromebook. Haley gave me my very cool chromebook. It sat on my lap waiting to be opened.

Mrs Craig started the countdown. It got less and less. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1! BOOM!!!  I opened the box as carefully as a kitten and inside was a lot of soft fabric to protect the chromebook.  There it was.  It was silver and very smooth like a leopards fur. When I opened it, it turned on by itself. It was awesome. I couldn’t wait to get started!!!
