Ko Cynthia raua ko Greg oku tupuna
Ko Lisa  raua ko Kin oku matua
Ko Braeden toku ingoa

I am a bored the Tokomaru in the middle of the ocean. Ranginui (sky father) is crying at the moment and it is very cold. I've been paddling all day and I'am cold and tired. We have just been told to pray to Tangaroa. He is very angry he is sending huge waves towards our canoe. I'am excited and nervous about moving to a new country. I'am excited about it because I get to see new lands that Maui created but I'am also nervous because everything I'd know is gone, left be hide me. Can't wait to see my new home! By for now.

  1. Hi Braeden,

My name's Ruby and I'm one of the people who will be blogging with you over the summer as part of the Summer Learning Journey.

Wow! What a great letter! I really like how you have incorporated Maori mythology into this letter, especially what you have said about Ranginui's crying being the rain. Well done.

The settlers would definitely be nervous and a little sad about leaving so much behind so it is good that you have mentioned this in your letter.

Have you ever been in a boat before? I have been in a boat a few times but always get so sea sick that it's never much fun!

I look forward to reading more great blog posts like this one over summer.
    Cheers,
    Ruby.
