End of Term 4 Recount Test.

Kia ora everyone!
This is a screenshot of my results in our end of Term 4 recount writing test.
My teachers have worked out my average score for writing and I am at 3A.
This is at the National Standard for my year level.
I am doing great at punctuation.

I  need to work harder at organisation next year.
Here is my recount.
Camping at Ruakaka

Splish. Splash. Squish. Spit.
Last year, my Brother, Mum, Dad and I went camping at Ruakaka campgrounds. It was located beside an estuary. The water slid through the estuary like a slithering snake and bubbled as if it was talking about the tales that it had been the stage for. Magnificent trees lined the far shore protecting it from the loud noise of the road. There were kayaks out in the water. They looked like huge bananas.

That afternoon we had decided to go swimming. We trotted down to the squishy beach. The beach was a brownish yellowish colour and looked  golden in the afternoon sun. We arrived at the shore, it was low tide and it looked like a huge vacuum had come and sucked up most of the water. Salt filled my nose and ozzy sand squished under my feet.I soon  discovered that there were cranky, clumsy crabs scurrying around on the shore gathering food before the tide came back in.

The stripy towel flew into place on the sandy beach and we got ready to take a dip in the playful waves. Stripes of different greens lay along the shore I dived into the crystal water. It swirled around me like it was a dog to playing fetch.

The water was lukewarm in the afternoon sun and was so  transparent that you could see the shells relaxing on the seafloor on the wonderful afternoon. I glided forward toward the middle of the estuary, the calm water seemed to split apart in front of me and small fish played tag around my feet. I accidentally swallowed some sea water and a salty sensation slapped me across the face. The clouds seemed to have had tongues that licked the salty, swaying sea. There was an island out on the other side of the estuary, but to far away for me to swim.

Finally, I looked up, my body tilted up, my head following my eyes and my eyes followed the current all the way out to the vast open ocean filled with mysteries waiting to be discovered. I thought to myself, what a lovely afternoon!
